Sip ("Sip", "we", "us") is a couples hydration app that lets two partners track water together. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account details — your email address and a password (your password is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider).
• Profile — your display name, daily water goal, accent color, and an optional profile or shared couple photo.
• Optional body metrics (health & fitness) — if you personalize your goal during onboarding, optional details (gender, age, height, weight, activity level, and climate) used only to calculate your suggested daily water goal. They are never used for advertising and never shared with other users.
• Couple link — an invite code and the connection between you and your partner's account.
• Activity in the app — water logs, reactions and stickers, drink-up nudges, Date Night challenges and results, plant and streak progress, and shared rewards.
• Purchases — your Sip Plus subscription status and purchase history, processed through Apple and our subscription provider RevenueCat. We never receive or store your payment card details.
• Notifications — a device push token so we can deliver your partner's nudges and reminders.
• Optional city (community stats) — only if you opt in, your coarse location (city, region, and country — never precise GPS coordinates) so we can show anonymous, aggregated "how much your area has sipped" totals. This is off by default and can be turned off anytime in Settings. Aggregated location totals are shown only for areas with enough participants and never identify individuals.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and we don't build advertising profiles about you.

How we use your information

• To run the app — track hydration, sync progress between you and your partner, and keep your shared plant, streak, and challenges up to date.
• To send the notifications you and your partner trigger (nudges, reminders).
• To create and secure your account and provide support.

How your information is shared

• With your partner. Sip is built for two. When you link with a partner, your display name, photo, water logs, reactions, and progress are visible to them. Share only what you're comfortable with them seeing.
• With service providers that operate the app on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Expo (push-notification delivery), Apple (app distribution and in-app purchases), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Resend (account emails). These providers process your data only to provide their service to us.
• For legal reasons, if required to comply with the law or protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

How your information is stored and protected

Your data is stored with our hosting provider (Supabase) and protected with row-level security so that only you and your linked partner can access your couple's data. Data is encrypted in transit, photos are kept in private storage, and passwords are never stored in plain text. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal data, except where we need to retain limited information to comply with legal obligations.

Your choices

• Access and update — you can view and edit your profile, goal, photo, and theme in the app.
• Notifications — you can turn off push notifications anytime in your device settings.
• Deletion and export — to delete your account or request a copy of your data, contact us at the address below.

Children

Sip is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

International users

Sip is operated with infrastructure located in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your information will be processed there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
